History

Between 1905 and 1910, in the thick of the modernization of Constanța Port under Carol I, the Exchange building appeared: offices, a trading hall, Art Nouveau ironwork. The project is linked to Anghel Saligny and the architect Victor Ștephănescu, the same men who also held other pieces of the port in their hands.

After 1946 the function changed; for a time the Border Police worked here. The monument (LMI CT-II-m-B-02784) can be seen from the berths, with the roof and tall windows still readable, even if no one comes in any more to buy grain by shout.

Access depends on port rules. If you do not catch a tour, look from a distance and tie the building to the silos and the former power plant — the same worksite, the same decade.
