Endonym on the village page
An endonym is the name the village uses at home. We put it under the title only when it is alive: on a shop sign, on a stone, in speech at the gate. We do not invent a form so it looks “authentic”.
What it is and is not
Jurilovca is also written Журиловка on signs and in Lipovan speech. Medgidia is Mecidiye in Turkish and Tatar, and was Karasu before that. Mihail Kogălniceanu was Kara Murat. These are place names, not nicknames. “Russians of the Delta” for Lipovans is not an endonym. It is a mistake we refuse: Sarichioi is a Lipovan village.
Where you see it on the site
One line under the village title. Not instead of the Romanian name on the map, so search still works. Search synonyms (Karasu, Kara Murat, Canara) stay there, so you can find the page.
How a new one gets in
Through the village corrector: how it is written, where you saw it (sign, stone, service), whether residents use it. No invented transliteration and no alphabet “to look the part”.
