The lagoon coastline, in full
Between the sea and the steppe, Dobrogea preserves saline and saline-subsaline lakes that shaped entire resorts: Techirghiol for mud, Siutghiol near Mamaia, Tașaul at Năvodari, Corbu to the north.
These lakes are less visible than the beaches, but they are central to the identity of the littoral: treatment, fishing, migratory and still water landscapes. Many formed as bar-enclosed marine bays, like Razim and Sinoe lagoons to the north.
Techirghiol is the most studied from a spa point of view: the sapropelic mud at the bottom of the lake has therapeutic properties documented for over a century. Siutghiol and Tașaul are more for recreation and birdwatching.
Lagoon lakes connect the coast to the steppe: reeds, rushes and willows grow on their banks, and pelicans and egrets stop here on their migration, right next to crowded resorts.

Mud baths Techirghiol
Traditional treatment with sapropelic mud, between lake and sea.
The Eforie Nord-Techirghiol resort offers treatment packages with lake mud, salt water and heliotherapy. The spa complex is one of the oldest on the coast, with a tradition of over 130 years.

Shore Siutghiol
Salt lagoon at Mamaia, ideal for walks and sunsets.
The promenade on the shore of Siutghiol connects the resorts on the lake with Mamaia. Pleasure boats, pontoon restaurants and spectacular sunsets make Siutghiol the peaceful alternative to the crowded beach.

Lake Tașaul
Steppe lake near Năvodari, fresh-salt water and migratory birds.
Tașaul is one of the largest coastal lakes, with wild shores and acacia forest. It is a favorite place for fishing, birdwatching and cycling on the surrounding roads, on the border between the sea and the steppe.
Tașaul becomes recreation area for Constanța and Năvodari.

Lake Corbu
Salt lagoon to the north, near the wild beach of the same name.
Corbu is one of the last wide beaches, intensively undeveloped, of the Romanian coast. The lake at the back is home to waterfowl and the village keeps a slow pace away from the big resorts.
