The southern coast, in full

The southern seaside Dobrogean is quieter than Mamaia, but just as rich in stories: mud baths at Techirghiol and Eforie, Mangalia with Callatis antique, Costinești student, 2 Mai bohemian and Vama Veche on the border.

As you descend to the south, the resorts become smaller, the villages closer to the sea, and the landscape takes on Mediterranean notes. Limestone hills slope down to small coves, and the beaches are often narrower but more intimate.

Mangalia preserves the imprint of two millennia: the walls of Callatis can be seen in the center, the Esmahan Sultan Glass is the oldest mosque in Romania, and the black sand of the beach is unique on the coast.

At the southern end, the 2 Mai-Vama Veche marine reserve protects reefs and marine habitats, while the bohemian village at Vama Veche remains the last refuge of the "other" coastline.
