History
The brothers Leonidas and Mihail Embiricos, Greek shipowners, opened in 1922 a seat at the corner of Nicolae Titulescu and Ion Cantacuzino. From here National Steam Navigation was run, with a line that linked Constanța to New York. The house is a navigation office dressed in late Art Nouveau, not a family villa.
The corner façades still hold Belle Époque air, with wide windows and a ground floor thought for a counter and merchants. The 1940s cut the company; the building remained.
Stand on the corner and read the building as a shipping firm, not as a palace. A 15-minute walk on Titulescu links Embiricos to Manicatide and to Goue.
