History
On 8 October 1898, the Bulgarian community in Constanța asked the City Hall for a plot on Maior Șonțu Street. The church dedicated to St. Nicholas was built at the beginning of the 20th century, on a Neo-Byzantine plan, with a narthex and exposed-brick façades.
The painting was entrusted to Ion Musceleanu, and the structural work bears the mark of master builder Ioanid Bătrânul. After 1940, when some of the parishioners left, the church passed to the Diocese of Tomis. Work was done in 1963, 1987 and 1992.
It is close to the peninsula district, but away from the queue at the port. If it is open, you have time to look at the painting without a crowd.
