History
The Cave of the Skulls lies in the area of the Dobruja Gorges, near Cheia. The name comes from archaeological finds: human remains that gave the place a reputation more of a site than of a fitted-out attraction.
It is not a cave with stairs, lights and a guide. Going in on your own is a bad idea: Dobruja galleries are narrow, sometimes unstable, and some are closed to research. If you want to see it, ask locally or a guide of the area; otherwise stay at the mouth of the gorges and at the landscape.
In the same valley are La Adam Cave (also with a special regime) and Saint John Cassian Monastery. Dobruja is not walked as an adventure park: some grottos remain outside tourism, and rightly so.
