History
The museum in Hârșova takes its name from the fortress on the rock. The collection covers Hamangia, Gumelnița, the Roman period and the Danube Middle Ages. There are pieces from the excavations at Carsium and from Cotovu, plus 19th-century objects tied to the visits of Carol I and Prince Ferdinand.
The building is modest. An hour is enough. After 1975 and again after 1993, the exhibition was reorganized.
Then climb to the ruins, a five-minute walk. Together they make a complete stop if you are crossing the river or heading toward Enisala.
