History

Beside the Tropaeum Traiani monument, the museum at Adamclisi holds the pieces that explain the victory of 102: metopes, weapons, inscriptions, a model of the fortress. Trajan marked his campaign here, on the road between the Danube and the sea; the museum building is modern, low, a few steps from the trophy.

Do the monument first, then go into the cases: otherwise you see only a tower in a field. Take an hour for both. Opening hours usually follow daylight; check beforehand if you come on a Monday. From here you can go on to the lower fortress or back toward Ion Corvin and the Cave of Saint Andrew.
