I. E. Abramoglu House (Cuculis House)
History
On Elisabeta no. 15, in 1910, the merchant I. E. Abramoglu raised, to the plans of Christo V. Sotiriu, a house with a bright basement, ground floor and storey. It is LMI, category B. After the First World War it passed to Despina Courcoulas; for a time it also held Lloyd Triestino offices.
Today it is also called Casa Cuculis and houses, among other things, an honorary consulate. The layers of names tell the city’s history: merchant, shipping line, diplomacy on a local scale.
Look at the basement and the stair from the street, then go on along Elisabeta toward Pâslă and Pilescu. You have a 200-metre stretch of Constanța 1900.
