History
In 1910, at the end of the seafront, a casino designed by architect Daniel Renard opened in Art Nouveau lines. On the same promontory there had already been an 1880 Kursaal and an 1893 performance hall; a design by Petre Antonescu never materialized.
After 1948 the building was a restaurant and a house of culture, then stood closed for decades. Strengthening work began in earnest after 2018, with visible works in 2020, and the 2025 reopening brings it back into public use.
Stop at least on the terrace: from here you can see the whole harbour. If you catch an interior tour, look at the staircase and the ballroom as a 1910 concert and gambling space, not as a postcard façade.
