History
At Slava Rusă, in Slava Cercheză commune, the Old Rite convent of nuns traces its line from the seventeenth century. Russian monks who did not accept the reform of Patriarch Nikon stopped here and first made a wooden skete, with cells and a small church.
Today's house belongs to the Lipovan world of northern Tulcea, alongside Uspenia and other sketes in Slava. Services follow the Julian calendar; if you want to catch a feast, check the date by the Old Rite, not by the phone.
Enter with covered dress, without a loud voice in the courtyard. After the visit, the village is worth a walk: painted houses, wells and a quiet you do not find on DN22 at the weekend.
