History
Mangalia stands over Callatis, a Greek colony founded in the sixth century BC. Walls of large blocks, fragments of a basilica, tombs and traces of a harbour can be seen at several points in the town, not in a single enclosure with one ticket.
Greeks, Romans and Byzantines used the same shore. The archaeology museum gathers the pieces; in the street you catch the wall when you least expect it. Combine it with the Esmahan Sultan mosque — two millennia on the same coast.
