Mamaia Casino
The beach season has closed (after 15 September). On the coast it is autumn/cold: promenade, museums, towns. Not bathing weather. Lifeguard, showers and sunbeds — only in the bathing season (1 June–15 September).
History
On 15 August 1935, on the feast of the Assumption, Carol II inaugurated the Mamaia casino, built in 1934–1935 by Constanța City Hall after the plans of Victor Ștefănescu — the same architect of the Carol I Mosque and of the history and archaeology museum. The building stood on the sand, with a dance hall and terraces toward the sea, for seasonal tourism, not a short weekend.
After 1958 it was reused; after 1989 it grew emptier. Today the walls need restoration, and access inside is, as a rule, closed.
You walk around the outside, see the volume toward the beach and tie it to the royal pier. Do not force the doors; a photograph from the sand is enough.
