History
In 1962, when Mamaia was filling with new hotels, the sculptor Gavril Covalschi cut in stone a rower: a bent trunk, oars suggested, movement held in a block. The work was thought for the green space of the resort, not for a market-square pedestal.
You find it among the alleys on the shore, in the area of the 1960s hotels. The stone has darkened; after rain the edges read better. There is no need for a guide: you sit two minutes, see how it ties to the water, and go on along the promenade.
