History
Mustafa Kemal (1881–1938), born in Salonika, came out of the First World War as an officer and led, between 1919 and 1923, the war from which the Republic of Turkey appeared. The bust in the Archaeological Park recalls that Dobrogea had, even after 1878, a Turkish-Tatar community for whom the figure of Atatürk matters.
In 2023, a century after the proclamation of the republic (and 85 years after his death), the place was again in attention. The plinth is low, the inscription is short; you do not need more than five minutes.
Combine the stop with the rest of the park: fortress walls, lapidarium, tree shade. It is a centre route, not a special excursion.
