Archaeological Park in Constanța
History
In 1959, along the fourth-century Romano-Byzantine wall - held until the sixth century - a park was laid out with pieces taken from excavations. The restorations of that time gave the present form: towers, stretches of curtain, slabs and capitals placed so you can read them in passing, on Traian Street, beside the History Museum.
Some pieces come from the 1903-1905 campaigns of the Regional Museum of Dobrogea; others from newer works, including recent rehabilitation projects. Entry is free, on foot, between blocks and ancient wall. Take 20-30 minutes, not an hour of guiding, then go into the museum if you want labels and context.
In the evening it fills with people cutting through, not with tourists. In the morning the stones photograph better.
