Năvodari, in brief
Năvodari is one of the youngest cities in Dobrogea, grown from a fishing village once called Caracoium. Today's name, given in 1927, comes from the fishermen's nets pulled ashore between the sea and Lake Tașaul.
Industrialisation in the 1950s–70s brought the petrochemical complex and thousands of new residents, and after 2000 the city exploded touristically: Năvodari beach and Mamaia Nord filled with modern hotels and resorts.
The Năvodari children's camp, the largest in the country, remains the shared memory of entire generations of Romanians. The city is proof that Dobrogea knows how to reinvent itself without forgetting its fishermen.

One of the widest beaches on the Romanian seaside, with fine sand and a gentle entry into the sea, ideal for families with children. In the last decade the Mamaia Nord area has grown explosively, with modern resorts right on the beach.

Lake Tașaul
Limans lake with La Ostrov Island, a paradise for anglers.
A fluvio-marine limans of over 2,300 hectares, separated from the sea by a sand bar. La Ostrov Island in its midst preserves traces of ancient habitation, and the lake's waters are heaven for carp and zander anglers.
On La Ostrov Island there are traces of Getic and Roman habitation.
