On the road
Road tips for visitors
Vignette, headlights, drink-driving, money, signal: a summary for anyone who drives or lands here, not legal advice. Laws are read from the official act. We translate the ground, not the Highway Code.
The car
The vignette is required on national roads and is bought online, before you touch the A2. Dipped headlights are used in daylight too, under the rule in force. Drink-driving is strict - 0.0 for professionals; for the rest, check the current law, not a forum.
Money and payment
Romanian leu (RON). Cards work in towns; in the Delta and in villages, cash. ATMs in Constanța, Tulcea, the resorts; then they thin out. We do not rely on "there is a POS everywhere".
Language
English is reasonable on the summer coast and in hotels. In the Delta, on the sites, in a minibus, Romanian (and Turkish, liturgical Russian, Ukrainian) hold the floor. The road dictionary has 20 phrases. The short EN / TR guide exists.
Speed and steppe
DN22 is straight and it lies. Animals, farm machinery, a side wind. It is not a motorway. In villages the speed drops - it is a village, not a corridor.
Parking at the site
Histria, Tropaeum, Enisala have site car parks, not mall ones. Do not block the gate. Do not drive onto the path. The camper has its own guide, official stops only.
What we do not interpret
Fines, RCA insurance, accidents, children in the car. The police and the insurer. The travel-insurance guide is for your policy, not ours - we do not sell.
