History
On the Casino seafront, beside the lighthouse of 1860, Oscar Han set in 1934 an Eminescu seated, not declaiming. It is called “Elegia”. The initiative began in 1931, with Zoe Verbiceanu and Ion N. Roman, in a Pro-Eminescu committee that wanted the poet close to the sea, not in a neighbourhood park.
The figure is gathered, with weight in the shoulders, enough to read from a bench. The same Han also worked Saligny, at the port; if you like his hand, make both stops in the same afternoon. The wind on the seafront is strong: hold the camera with both hands.
