History
On the Stipoc sandbar, in the Delta, stands a wooden skete raised by Old Believers some 15 years ago. The style is Moldavian: lace cut into the beams, a porch, a low little church. In the cells there usually live between five and nine monks, so it is not a mass-pilgrimage monastery.
You arrive by boat, on the canals, not by car to the gate. Summer is simpler logistically, but also hotter; take water, a hat and respect the household timetable: here they work, they fish, they serve according to the Julian calendar.
Do not look for a museum or a souvenir shop. You sit half an hour in the courtyard, listen to the wood and the wind and go on by water, as you came.
