History

In Mila 23, on the bank of the Old Danube, the house-museum opened in May 2024 gathers boats, medals, photographs and family objects of Ivan Patzaichin. The village was his birthplace; the museum sits low, at the water, in a building you recognise from the boat before you see the plaque.

You arrive only by water, from Crișan or from other villages on the branch. Opening hours usually run around 11-18; check beforehand, because in winter they tighten. Inside it is cool, text in Romanian, visiting time under an hour.

Leave an hour for the village as well: canals, gardens, a fish soup. Do not treat the place as a capital-city museum with a cloakroom; it is a Delta house with display cases.
