History
Under the former Egreta restaurant in Constanța, excavations in the 1980s opened a Roman tomb of the fourth century. On the walls is an orant: a figure with raised arms, a prayer gesture from late antiquity, on the border between pagan and Christian.
The chamber is a painted hypogeum, small. Access depends on the site’s hours — check beforehand; it is not in plain sight on the pedestrian street. If you find it open, stay with the explanations about Tomis, not a flash photograph.
