History
On the side of Ovidiu Square, around 1903, the Greek Gheorghe Hrisicos asked for a hotel of rank, and Louis Givert gave him an Art Nouveau façade. Constanța was becoming a port and a resort; the square was the shop window.
At the restaurant and in the rooms stayed, among others, I. L. Caragiale, Barbu Ștefănescu Delavrancea and Take Ionescu. After the First World War the functions kept changing; the 1990s and 2020s left marks on the ground floor, but the upper floors still hold the old line.
Drink a coffee in the square and look up, not only at the statue of Ovid. In the evening the lights from the ground floor cut the details; by day it is better for photographing the stucco.
