History
Izvoarele, also marked on maps as Pârjoaia, belongs to Lipnița commune. The wattle-and-daub house of worship dedicated to the Great Martyr Saint Demetrius was already standing before 1877; the village is thought to have raised it around the middle of the nineteenth century, without a founder named on a inscription.
Paiantă means a wooden frame filled with earth and wattle, a simple roof, a floor changed several times. Services continue. If you are going toward the Danube, leave ten minutes in the courtyard: you see a type of church that concrete has replaced almost everywhere.
