History
In Independence Monument Park, on the hill that dominates Tulcea, the history and archaeology museum stands above the old fortress of Aegyssus. The entrance is through the park, so the walk and the visit join up on their own.
The rooms run from the Stone Age to the Dobrogea Middle Ages: pottery, tools, coins, finds from the Danube sites. Some of the walls can also be seen on the slopes, in the open air.
In summer the access path is hot; in winter the park is empty and the rooms can be walked in quiet. Check the hours - sometimes it closes at midday.
