History

The college started at the end of the nineteenth century, when Dobrogea was just linking administratively to Romania and the city needed a serious lycée for boys. The building you see today was raised between 1911 and 1915: straight lines, a sober façade, high windows — a provincial lycée with capital pretensions.

Since then, generations of Constanța people have passed through here before reaching university, the navy or the administration. If you stand in front of the gate, it is worth noticing the plaster details and the way the main body holds the whole lot; it is also a historic monument, not only a school with good baccalaureate results.

The visit is from the pavement, on weekdays. At weekends the façade photographs quietly, without a bell.
