History
On the hills near Telița, at the foot of Măcin, the traces of a fortified settlement known as Edirlen can be read. It is a field site, not a museum: banks, stones and a position that controlled the road between the Danube and the plateau.
Research ties the place to the Getae world and to Hellenistic contacts in northern Dobruja, in the same network as the settlements at Agighiol and Beștepe. For the visitor, the interest is the archaeological landscape: how a fortification sits on a spur, how the valley is seen from above.
There is no ticket office and no waymarked trail. Go on foot, in field shoes, without digging and without taking objects. Celic Dere is nearby, if you want to end the day at a monastery, not in an excavation field.
