Nawrez
Nawrez (Nevruz) is the spring new year, around the equinox. In Dobrogea Crimean Tatars keep it and, where it is announced, Turks. The community sets the date. If there is no notice, there is no event on the site.
Where you read the date
At UDTTMR, at a mosque, on an association poster. 21 March is the astronomical mark, not the hour in Medgidia. We do not copy last year’s programme.
Etiquette
It is a community feast, not a festival for guests. Do not walk into a tent unasked. Do not photograph children around the fire, if there is a fire. The same rule as for a portrait.
What it is not
It is not “Dobrogea’s spring festival” for everyone. It is not a reason to ask for șuberek as if it were an attraction. The Tatars’ card stays on the hub.
