River delta
Tulcea, Maliuc, Mila 23 - canals, reeds, villages on the water.

River delta, in full
Before reaching the sea, the Delta unfolds as a network of canals, lakes and reed beds where villages are visible from the water, not the road. Tulcea is the gate, Maliuc and Mila 23 are landmarks of fishing life.
Pelicans, thrushes and egrets live here, and people travel by boat as elsewhere by bicycle. The inland channels - Eracle, Litcov, Sireasa - are quieter than the sea arms and allow day trips from Tulcea.
The LipovanStynian and Ukrainian communities established villages such as Mila 23, Crișan and Letea, preserving the language, tar boats and borș fish. The village Mila 23 is the cradle of Romanian canoeing: the Olympic champions come from here.
The Caraorman Forest, on the beam, is the more accessible alternative to Letea: sand dunes, old oaks and wild horses, visitable with an authorized guide ARBDD.
