West wind and crivăț
Dobrogea has, in winter and late autumn, two winds that feel different. The crivăț comes from the north-east, dry and sharp. The west wind often brings cloud and, on the coast, a wetter bank. They are not characters.
The crivăț
On the plateau and the Danube bank, it cuts. At Măcin, at Hârșova, on the steppe. The turbines are seen turning or standing: from the road. Loess dust, after a dry spell, is its doing: dust.
The west wind
On the promenade it pushes the wave. The reflection on the sea breaks. The canal, sheltered, can stay calmer: two waters.
What we do not do
We do not announce a “crivăț weekend”. Do not climb a ridge to feel it. If a road is closed, the sign decides.
