History
In the north of Constanța County, near Casimcea, the valley cuts the hills in short slopes and bare sides. Mahomencea has no reserve gate and no panels. You arrive on communal roads, then on foot, on the valley floor or on the ridge above.
Erosion has brought out layers of limestone and loam in colours that change after rain: grey, ochre, sometimes almost white. In spring the grass is short and in flower; in summer the heat gathers between the banks. It is a half-day route, not a camping weekend, if you do not know the springs.
Tell someone where you are going, bring enough water, and avoid the beds after a storm. Do not leave the car on fenced pastures. Evening darkens quickly and there is no lighting.
