History
Ion Bănescu, a former mayor, died in 1909. The town hall left his wife, Elena, a lot on Tomis Boulevard no. 110, and between 1911 and 1914 the architect Nicolae Loghiu raised a house in neo-Romanian style: porches, surrounds, a broken roof.
After the First World War the building passed through several public destinations; for a time it housed the Popular School of Arts. From the pavement the windows and the play of volumes show well — it is one of the houses that still hold the rhythm of old Tomis, not of the blocks after 1960.
The interior is not a museum. Stop at the façade, then go on along the boulevard: in ten minutes you are at other houses of the same period.
