Vasile Călin Filip cut in “Waiting” a figure that stands, does not run: dropped shoulders, a closed volume, a pause held in the material. It is the opposite of the sports statues on the coast; here there is no start, there is the interval between two gestures.
You come close, you walk around the piece, you look for the face and the hands. The texture is made to be seen up close, not from the road.
Five minutes, on foot, on a seafront or sculpture-park route. There is no need for a long explanation: the title and the posture are enough.
