1878 lesson
In 1878, after the Russo-Romanian-Ottoman war and the Congress of Berlin, Dobrogea returned to Romania, and southern Bessarabia was ceded. It is a fact of treaty, not a promenade legend. Ten minutes, no band.
What was signed
The Treaty of Berlin, 13 July 1878. Romania received Dobrogea, including the Delta, and lost the counties of southern Bessarabia. Administration began the same year. We do not rewrite the articles here; they stand in the treaty text and in the historical works.
What followed, as fact
A new administration, roads, land grants, communities already here: Turks, Tatars, Lipovans, Romanians, Bulgarians, Greeks. 24 January 1859 is another date, of the Union of the Principalities: only if there is a notice.
What we do not do
We do not turn 1878 into a weekend slogan. We do not erase the communities that were already on the ground. We do not ask for an emotion. The monument in Tulcea is a pin, not the argument.
