Solstice on the promenade
Around the winter solstice the sun sets early on the Constanța and Mangalia promenades. It is an astronomical fact. It is not a ritual and not an event we organise.
What it is
The shortest day. On 21 or 22 December, depending on the year. Sunset falls around 16:30 on the coast. The exact figure belongs to the astronomical almanac, not to a weekend poster. December dark has its own page: dark by 17:00.
Where you stand
On the public promenade, off season: a jacket, wind, no sunbed. Do not climb down onto the tetrapods to catch the disc. It is not a beach.
What we do not do
We do not announce a “vigil”. We do not light candles on the dyke in the site’s name. If the town hall announces something, it is their notice.
