History
In Sulina, where the branch gives itself to the sea, the Orthodox church dedicated to Saint Nicholas belongs to sailors and fishermen. The building is nineteenth-century, from the time when the European Commission of the Danube filled the port with pilots, Greeks, Lipovans and clerks.
The architecture is that of a port town: tower, nave, an interior that fills at the patronal feast and at funerals from the canal. It is not a county cathedral; it is the parish at the end of the country.
Go in after a walk on the waterfront. Then go to the maritime cemetery and to the exhibition on Rosetti: in the same day you hold together worship, memory and crew life.
