How to do the route
Allow a full day combined through the Danube Delta. Check museum hours and bookings in season. Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (ARBDD): follow the local rules and the instructions of the authorities or of authorised guides.
Stops on the route
- Tulcea - Embarkation on steamer to Crișan; book ahead in season.
- Pădurea Caraorman - Ancient oaks on the mound, beside Red Lake. Strictly protected area — stay on the guide's route.
- Crișan - Channel crossroads; here you join the guided tour to Caraorman (ARBDD).
