History
Beside the Aurora hotel in Mamaia, Olga Porumbaru's sculpture has stood since the early 1970s: stone volumes that keep the rhythm of the wave, without mimicking a score. The author, trained also with works that went toward New York, also worked on ensembles at Peleș; here she left a piece of public sculpture, not an object for a case.
You find it on foot, between the hotel and the promenade, not on an esplanade with a large plaque. Tourists pass toward the beach and leave it behind. If you want to see it, stop five minutes, walk around it and look at the shadow: the form reads better from the side than from in front of the hotel.
