The Danube limes
Capidava, Carsium, Arrubium, Aegyssus: Danube forts, one site = one listing. We do not duplicate Histria or Tropaeum here. The limes is a line of defence and of road, not a generic “fortress”. Autumn is kind on the bank; in summer the sun is steppe sun.
How you walk it
One site a day, plus a museum or a town. Adamclisi + Capidava is an honest Roman day. All the forts in one day is a photograph from the car.
Capidava
Danube bank, wall, a climb, a view. Hours are on the listing if checked. Footwear. Water.
Carsium / Hârșova
Town and site, a road node. It is not just bridge parking.
Aegyssus
Tulcea from above. It sticks to Walk Tulcea, not a dash for the boat.
Glossary
Castrum, vallum, fossa, porta, cardo. The archaeological guide holds the 15 terms. Learn them once, you recognise them everywhere.
On the map
The fortresses / places layer. If a pin is missing, it is not “hidden” — we do not have a listing clean enough to publish.
