Reed cutting as work
Reed is cut in winter, when it is dry and the water is low. It is a job, not scenery. The cut landscape stays on dry reed and the Delta without green. Here it is the work, seen from a distance.
When
In the cold season, after the reed has dried. The exact date is set by the reed administrator and ARBDD, not by us. We do not publish a “good week for cutting”.
What you see from the road
Bundles, a barer bank, a boat with reed. From the car or from a public dyke. Do not walk into the reedbed, do not follow a boat, do not ask “where are you cutting tomorrow”.
Why we give no sites
A cutting point is a workplace and, often, a protected zone. A GPS pin on a reed bank is as wrong as a GPS pin on a nest.
